5 Things You Can Do Today For A More Elegant Tomorrow

One of the pillars of our womanhood is charm. Although charm comes in many different flavors, elegance is a mark of charm in action. Elegance is often seen as something that comes with ballroom dance lessons or an heiress lifestyle. On the contrary, elegance is easily attainable with small and daily actions.

Before we get any further, let’s get clear on elegance and what it means in our lives today. Elegance is defined many ways but for our own purposes, let’s just focus on one (as provided by Miriam Webster ).

el·e·gance
ˈeləɡəns/

Noun - Dignified gracefulness or restrained beauty of style

Elegance is marked by grace, restraint and simplicity. In my effort to make the world a better place, I really try to hit the refresh button on what seems like the dying art of elegance. Here are a few simple things you can do today for a more elegant tomorrow.

Buy a calligraphy pen, and use it daily.
We write things regularly, why not write with a special pen. You do not have to run out and take a calligraphy class, everything you need to know is easily accessible on online (with markers  and even brush tips). I find that use of this inexpensivechisel tip pen makes writing fun and beautiful. To begin, you might just stop by your local craft store and ask where the calligraphy markers are, so you can begin easily. Because the felt- tip tops come in different sizes, you will need to find what works for you!

Declutter your mental and physical space.
Simplicity is key to being elegant. Having a simplified life is harder when your life is messy. Really. Just clean up your room, your office, or your closet and feel the relief of ease in your mind. You will instantly find a sense of clarity. Life begins to be a little easier and that organization will flow into your life, making it easier to get to your dinner parties, meetings, or classes. You suddenly will feel more relaxed and that easily translates into graceful body language. That, my friend, is elegant. If you need inspiration and direction, check out this YouTuber!

Find a great YLBB lipstick
Am I really talking about lipstick and elegance? Yes, ma’am, I am! The way we connect with others tends to come through all kinds of communication. The way we feel with lacquered lips is not altogether different than the way we feel with a fresh manicure. It is different, special. So find a great YLBB (“Your Lips But Better”) lip product color and be mindful of what comes out of that precious pucker. For the biggest lip trend this Fall, check out this lip tutorial. Just remember to make your lip look your own!

Populate your calendar.
Seems like a strange connection, but, the way you plan your day will dictate if you have time to live at a slower and more deliberate pace. When you are rushed and hurried you put off that kind of haphazard body language. Your demeanor will be more hurried and less open to connect with others, have a meaningful 5 minute conversation, or take in the beauty around you. So, take time today to plan out your day tomorrow. Having that plan will allow you to build in time to move simply and gracefully through your day.

Create a stationary station.
Truly, elegance is personified with tangible gratitude and thanks. Writing a short note thanking them for the telephone call, baked goods, or help with homework makes a difference in your life and the life of others. There is something about a piece of stationary you picked out covered in your personal handwriting that creates a statement of elegance. So get started today by creating a small space to display your pens and stationary, so scratching out a quick “thank you” will be more convenient.

Curtsygirls Character Challenge – Being elegant seems like such a far stretch, but at the root of all elegance is grace. Work today on giving yourself,  your friends, and your family the kind of love you would want…even (and especially) if they do not deserve it. Now, THAT, is elegant!
