When getting ready for a new season, my little CurtsyGirl (“CG”) and I consider a few things:-What clothes can I use from last season?-What fresh colors can I add to what I already have to “perk it up”?-What new items do I need to be appropriate and stylish for the new season?
**Then we RAID our closets!!!**
A few Items that we loved from last season were her colored jeans. We have agreed to cut them into shorts or fold them into Capri pants. Not only will it be a good use of jeans that would have not been worn again, but also really gives her a “base” to add new and bright items to!
There are so many new colors this season, but without a doubt, with summer neon colors return to lighten the mood (and keep you cool). Along with bright hues, we are seeing a lot of white, which will be perfect with those recycled jeans! And, as always, we encourage you to pick a color that makes you feel great, so pick your favorite feel-good color and go with it!
To stay comfortable from the inside out, ask Mom and Dad for summer-weight underclothes. When the heat hits, we also like to have a rainbow assorted selection of tank tops. We both prefer tanks with thicker straps. We also like to mix our tanks to wear more than one at a time (to keep cool, just pick a tank with a built in shelf bra, and then find a different tank in a complimentary color to wear over it).
Also, the no-fail sun dress ALWAYS works. I love to use sundresses as beach cover-ups, or add a scarf if I am going out to the movies or dinner.
Here are a few of our summer season favorites (all of these can be found between Belks, Ross, and Target)!
CurtsyGirls Character Challenge: Go through your closet and donate all of your gently-used clothes that do not fit anymore to a special friend or sibling who might be a size smaller than you, or an organization like The Salvation Army or your church! This is a good time to bless someone else.
